Danelectro – Convertible Acoustic-Electric Guitar – Black

The Danelectro Convertible is a classic hollowbody electric-acoustic guitar. First appearing in 1959, it was one of the first electric-acoustic guitars available to the public. It featured empty receiving holes for players to add their own wiring and hardware to convert it from an acoustic to an electric guitar. Today’s Danelectro Convertibles come wired and ready to play, with a classic Piezo bridge pickup and ’56 soundhole single-coil lipstick pickup for the best of both acoustic and electric sounds.

Description

The ’56 lipstick single-coil in the soundhole of the Convertible is a passive pickup with a coil wrapped around an Alnico VI magnet and then wrapped in tape. This pickup harkens back to the early days of rock-n-roll with a vintage, jangly, midrange punch and treble kick – ideal for rockabilly, country, or just good old rock-n-roll. The somewhat warmer Piezo bridge pickup complements the lipstick nicely as you switch back and forth. Or, when you are feeling adventurous – and we highly recommend adventure – you can combine the pickups with the “blend” control on the Convertible. Master volume and tone controls also give you additional tone-shaping options.
