Hands-On Review: The Robus RTH-1050 Ball HeadRead MoreThe Robus Ballhead: The Only Ballhead You’ll Ever NeedThe Robus ExperienceA Wildlife Photographer’s Experience with RobusThe sturdy RTH-1050 Triple Action Ball Head from Robus is a rugged, full-featured ball head that provides a combination of strength and functionality for use in the studio or on location. With a generous load capacity of up to 55 pounds, the RTH-1050 can support cameras up to full-sized DSLRs with massive telephoto lenses and still provide a full range of movements. The main locking knob turns easily to tighten and loosen the large 2.2 inch ball and features an ergonomic and intuitive tension adjustment dial. Adjustable tension control ensures that a level friction is always applied to the ball to prevent losing control of the camera when repositioning. The Arca-type quick release receiver incorporates an integrated bubble level for precise horizontal alignment and is compatible with a multitude of Arca-type quick release plates, camera brackets, and other related accessories.Load CapacityThe generous 55 lb load capacity of the RTH-1050 enables the smooth positioning of almost any type of camera, ranging from simple compact models up to heavy camera-plus-lens combinations, with stable and secure results.Tension ControlThe locking knob includes an integrated tension dial that sets the minimum amount of friction on the ball. This ensures there’s friction, even when the main locking knob is disengaged. This feature assures control of your camera and lens when you need to quickly unlock and reposition the ball head.Arca-Type Compatible Quick Release SystemThe Arca-type compatible quick release plate allows the camera and lens set to be quickly mounted. It incorporates a bubble level for precise horizontal alignment, and a +/- 25mm scale for precise quick release plate positioning. The included AQR-60 quick release plate has a D-ring 1/4″-20″ mounting screw, rubber traction strips to prevent camera rotation, and security pins to prevent it from accidentally releasing from the mounting platform while being positioned.Panoramic BaseThe panning base operates independently from the main tension knob and features its own locking knob. A highly visible precision scale adds simplicity to panoramic imaging and creating repeatable results.Aircraft-Grade AluminumFor exceptional strength and stability, the RTH-1050 head is constructed with aircraft-grade aluminum that can stand up to demanding use and travel and perform at the highest level. All of the control knobs are cross-hatch knurled for easy gripping.Solid Brass-Reinforced SocketThe base of the RTH-1050 ball head features an industry-standard 3/8″-16 mounting socket machined from corrosion-resistant brass, making it compatible with virtually any tripod leg set.The socket is made from reinforced brass to resist wear for long life and reliable, secure tightening.90° NotchQuickly change the camera orientation from landscape to portrait using the 90° notch.UPC: 847628026636
